About Killin & the Lodges

Killin Highland Lodges lie 1 mile north of Killin in West Perthshire, in woodland below the Tarmachan and Ben Lawer's range of mountains in the ancient district of Breadalbane. They are at the site of a "sheiling" which is where the women and children of the village used to live with the cattle in the summer to let them feed on the sweet mountain grass, returning to the village for the winter months.

Loch Tay The lodges sit on a flat shelf looking out over fields to the mountains on the far side of Loch Tay. There are large lawned areas on site and they are surrounded by wooded hillside which is ideal for walking .The stream running down the west edge of the site has some good picnic areas along side it higher up the hill, but is safely fenced off within the lodges area, so children can play safely. Killin Golf Course extends to just opposite the Lodges and the village, just over 1 mile away, can be seen nestling in the valley below.

Killin is a delightful, unspoiled highland village which spans the banks of the River Dochart close to where it spills into Loch Tay. As it runs through the village, the river scrambles over large rocks forming the renowned Falls of Dochart.
